A 24-year-old man has been arrested a second time in connection with a double killing in downtown San Jose last month, authorities said Tuesday.

This time, Aaron Anthony Ocampo, of Morgan Hill, has been booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of manslaughter, after turning himself in on Sunday.

Ocampo was quickly identified as a suspect after the Feb. 8 shooting, but he was later released.

The double homicide happened Feb. 8 around 2:20 a.m. in the 100 block of Paseo de San Antonio, near San Jose State University and downtown.

Arriving officers found two men suffering from at least one gunshot wound each. Despite life-saving efforts by emergency personnel, both victims died.

Police said officers quickly identified a suspect vehicle and contacted its occupants, including Ocampo, shortly after the shooting. Ocampo was initially identified as the suspect and later booked on suspicion of homicide, but was let go.

After a further investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Ocampo on suspicion of manslaughter.

Ocampo’s motives remain under investigation. According to online county court records, he was arraigned on Monday and is scheduled to next appear in court May 7.

The identities of the victims have not yet been released and will be provided by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.

The killings were the second and third homicides in San Jose this year.
