EUGENE, Ore. – Behind steady performances from Ivan Barahona and Avinash Iyer, the San José State men’s golf team secured a seventh-place finish at The Duck Invitational on Tuesday. Competing against a competitive 15-team field at the historic Eugene Country Club, the Spartans combined for a final team score of 878 (+26).

Leading the Pack

Barahona and Iyer paced the Spartans throughout the weekend, both finishing the tournament in a tie for 12th place with total scores of 216 (+3).

Iyer: Carded the team’s best round of the day with a 73 (+2), highlighted by three birdies.

Barahona: Matched Iyer on the leaderboard after carding a 74 (+3) on Monday, also dropping three birdies during his final round.

Rounding Out the Lineup

The Spartans showed depth across the scorecard to remain in the top half of the leaderboard:

Keshav “KC” Mungali: Delivered a solid final round of 75 (+4), finishing the tournament in a tie for 25th place with a total of 219 (+6).

Jed Dy: Posted a final-round 79 (+8) to finish with a three-day total of 229 (+16), placing him in a tie for 66th.

Xuan Luo: Finished the tournament after carding an 80 (+9) on the final day.

Christian Maggard: Rounded out the Spartan effort, finishing in 82nd place as an individual.
