An Oakhurst man was arrested after more than 4,000 digital files containing child sexual abuse material were found in his Madera County house that had been used as a short-term vacation rental, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Christian Parmalee Edwards, 44, was booked into Madera County Jail and faces multiple felony charges related to the possession and distribution of CSAM.

Madera detectives, who worked alongside the Central California Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, also uncovered evidence suggesting Edwards used his residence as a short-term vacation rental and recorded guests during private moments without their knowledge.

Edwards faces additional charges, including invasion of privacy.

Deputies executed a search warrant at the residence in Oakhurst based on a tip from the Nation Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding distribution of CSAM activity occurring in their area.

Anyone with additional information regarding this case or potential victims is asked to contact Detective Eder Andrade at 559-517-7997 or the Madera County Sheriff’s Office at 559-675-7770.

According to the Internet Watch Foundation, there were 291,273 reports of CSAM online in 2024 — the highest number ever recorded.

That’s equivalent to almost 800 reports of CSAM per day.
