As San Francisco sheds its winter gloom and spring steps in its place with warm weather and sunshine, that only means one thing: It’s baseball season. Wednesday, March 25, marks the Opening Night game for the San Francisco Giants, who host longtime rivals the New York Yankees in a matchup at Oracle Park.

Locals know that attending a baseball game is part of the quintessential San Francisco experience in spring and summer. And seeing as how we’re a food-obsessed city, no stadium visit is complete without food and drinks. That’s where this guide comes in. Eater SF attended media day at Oracle Park, and we’ve clocked the newest additions to food menus across the stadium, and we have the latest on this season’s restaurant and bar upgrades. So no matter how the Giants perform when you attend your next game — at least you’ll know the food is good.

What’s new for the stadium

New bars. Two areas in Oracle Park saw bar upgrades for the new season. The most prominent change is on the Promenade Level behind home plate, where the new King Street Gallery features a large LED board to watch the game keep track of the score, a display case for the World Series trophies and rings, and a new bar. A sizable retractable roof over the area allows for weather-appropriate sunshine to stream into the new section. If you’re lucky enough to get into the Blue Shield Field Club, the new Shield Lounge caters to Premium Field Club members, with a full-service bar, complimentary snacks, televisions, private restrooms, and more, as part of the membership.

New and improved concessions. New to the stadium this year is Pacific Eats (Section 127), taking over the Rah Rah Ramen location, serving rice bowls and banh mi. Doggie Diner Express (Section 121) got a remodel, and the new configuration should hopefully mean a faster check-out if all goes right. The diner also added a few new items to the menu, such as chicken tenders, ice cream, and snacks to round out offerings. The Pop-Up Kitchen experience is now rebranded as SF Selects (Scoreboard Plaza), and it’s the place to go for new menu items or any special dishes tied to an event or promotion.

Stadium souvenirs. Souvenir items have always been a thing at ballparks, but ever since the Dune-ification of popcorn buckets at theaters, these items have become infinitely more covetable. If you’re looking for a take-home souvenir with your cocktail, the Irish coffee cup is available across the Promenade, Club, and View Levels, while the Fiesta Gigantes-inspired Michelada Cup is is up for purchase at Bayside Brew on the Promenade Level in Section 105. Meanwhile, a cute 16-ounce orange and black mini cooler cup is teed up for May, ready for cocktails and fountain drinks at the Promenade, Club, and View levels. And don’t forget the legendary, 98-ounce popcorn bat, which got an updated look this year: that new popcorn bat debuts in June. (Each bat purchase also comes with unlimited refills.)

Pacific Eats, a banh mi and rice bowl stand, is new at Oracle this year. Diners choose between three types of protein for their sandwich or bowl — marinated tofu, buttermilk- and sriracha-marinated chicken, or bulgogi with gochujang aioli. The bowl comes with your choice of protein over a bed of rice, carrots, and pickled daikon; the banh mi stuffs the protein into a toasted roll with pickled veggies, Kewpie mayonnaise, and cilantro. A new char siu dog, which was one of the best bites from media day, is available this season. Think your classic footlong hot dog, glazed in a char siu-esque sauce to give it a hint of sweetness and tang. It comes topped with a hit of Kewpie mayonnaise, plus a sprinkling of fried onions and green onions. Say Hey Sausage on Promenade Level, Section 125; Doggie Diner at Section 133 and View Level, Section 307

If you’re looking for a classic hot dog with sauerkraut, look no further — although this one does come with a twist. This footlong hot dog borrows from the team colors, adding a dose of orange and black-dyed sauerkraut as a fun accent. It also doesn’t hurt that you can get these dogs via in-seat delivery. Peruchín brings a hearty jerk chicken sandwich to its stand this year, served on — what else? — crackly-topped Dutch crunch. A slaw of red cabbage and plantains keeps things crunchy, while mango salsa adds some fruity sweetness, all dosed with some lime-cilantro dressing to give the sandwich some citrus punchiness. Brisket and mac-loaded grilled cheese and birria-loaded grilled cheese

SF Selects brings the grilled cheese sandwich heat with two hefty options: a brisket and mac grilled cheese, along with a birria grilled cheese. Griddled, thick-cut sandwich bread holds in bits of smoked barbecue brisket paired with mac and cheese for a decadent bite. Meanwhile, the birria grilled cheese comes with sourdough that hits the griddle with some birria consomé for some flavor and texture, then gets filled with that birria meat and melty Mexican cheese, before it’s topped with pickled onions and cilantro.
