Looking for a new career in Sacramento County? That state of California is seeking applicants for full-time positions in fields including transportation, State Air Resources Board and water resources.

State jobs are known for offering competitive benefits and enrollment in the nation’s largest pension plan. Each job has different requirements, which are listed.

Although some positions require employees to work in the office, others offer remote work and hybrid schedules.

According to CalCareers, there were more than 2,900 available positions in the state of California, including about 831 job openings in Sacramento County as of Tuesday, March 24.

The assistant division chief/program manager develops and modifies internal policy matters related to program-specific functions. And the position manages allotments and the facilities’ budget, tracks expenditures, invoices, accounts payable and receivables, lease structures and lease management, and matters related to program needs.

The position touches fiscal, leasing, space planning, long-range planning, GIS, infrastructure planning, policy, facilities-specific technologies and human resources.

The position reports to the California DMV’s branch chief.

This position is available for part-time telework, but requires California residency.

Advanced Learning Institute Captain | Temporary, full-time

Department: Peace Officer Selection and Employee DevelopmentSalary: $12,539 to $14,350 per monthApplication deadline: Monday, April 6

The Advanced Learning Institute caption provides managerial oversight of the ALI, a program tasked with providing statewide leadership/supervisory/managerial training, field support for training initiatives, and program management pertaining to statewide training initiatives.

That includes planning, organizing, evaluating and directing the work of the ALI based on legal mandates, changing and emergent training needs, departmental priorities, directives, statutes, and strategic goals.

The position reports to the Peace Officer Selection and Employee Development deputy director.

Engineer | Permanent, full-time

Department: Water ResourcesSalary: $6,488 to $12,152 per monthApplication deadline: Monday, April 13

The water resources engineer will inspect all types of existing dams and assist with the inspection of construction of dams and appurtenant structures. The position is responsible for maintenance and construction-related inspections of dams, resevoirs and attached structures. It will also prepare technical reports and memoranda pursuant to construction and maintenance inspections, operational evaluations, investigations, and plans and specification reviews.

It reports to the water resources supervising engineer in the Divison of Safety of Dams’ engineering branch.

Analyst ll | Permanent, full-time

The analyst supports analytical and technical work related to training and development activities. The position also assists in training curriculum development, revisions, and project coordination to support the training needs of county In Home Supportive Services staff and internal Adult Program Division staff.

The analyst will collaborate with team members and stakeholders to ensure training materials are accurate, accessible, and aligned with program policies and best practices.

Branch Chief | Permanent, full-time

The branch chief is responsible for the supervision and management of the Data Analytics and Case Development Branch, as well as providing a high level of assistance and expertise to the division chief.

DACD is comprised of the research, intake and sanctions sections. DACD is responsible for providing research of targeted providers, case development, and lead generation and validation for the other branches within the Investigation Division.

Senior Psychologist | Permanent, full-time

Department: California Correctional Health Care ServicesSalary: $12,685 to $14,939 per monthApplication deadline: Tuesday, April 7

The California State Prison correctional facility senior psychologist performs difficult and responsible assignments relating to psychological assessment and treatment, and services as a department wide expert and psychology consultant.

The position consults with medical, social work, rehabilitation, education, nursing, custody and other personnel regarding program planning and evaluation and the development of direct and indirect services — with medical and other clinical consultation as necessary. It also provides psychological evaluations of program admissions, including a written report with diagnosis and recommendations for treatment; and participates in individualized treatment and discharge planning.

The position reporters to the chief of mental health.

Senior Transportation Engineer | Permanent, full-time

Department: TransportationSalary: $11,437 to $14,315 per monthApplication deadline: Thursday, April 2

The senior transportation engineer is responsible for coordinating, developing, supporting, training and implementing engineering innovations and enhancements of engineering Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) applications and Office of Building Information Modeling for Infrastructure related software for the BIM4I program in Caltrans.

It reports to the BIM4I chief and a supervising transportation engineer.

This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs.

Sustainable Communities Policy and Planning Senior Advisor | Permanent, full-time

Department: State Air Resources BoardSalary: $10,521 to $13,173 per monthApplication deadline: Sunday, April. 12

This position will be a senior policy lead on the California Air Resources Board’s work to advance implementation of land use and transportation system development strategies that reduce emissions and support the transition to a carbon-free transportation system in California.

In the near-term, this position will focus on several high-priority initiatives, including:

California’s Senate Bill 375 program target updates and related policy work;Supporting CARB’s Sustainable Communities Strategy Evaluation Guidelines update, including development of a new evaluation protocol; andSB 150 policy reporting to the Legislature.

This senior advisor will build and facilitate partnerships between CARB and various state, regional, and local agency leaders, transit and other mobility service providers, builders, community interest groups, and a variety of other non-governmental stakeholders on the development of strategies, regulations, and other policy initiatives with immediate and long-range impact.

This position may be eligible for telework.
