EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – San José State men’s basketball assistant coach and video coordinator Jack Townsend has been named a Silver Waves Media Rising Star, announced by Silver Waves Media on Wednesday. The organization recognizes rising men’s basketball coaches at both the collegiate and professional level.

Townsend just completed his first season on the Spartans’ coaching staff. His journey with San José State reflects a steady rise through the program, having previously served as a team manager for two seasons while earning his degree in communication studies in 2025.

Prior to his time at SJSU, he spent one season as a men’s basketball student manager at UC Santa Barbara. He also earned an Associate of Arts degree in communications from De Anza College in 2022.

A native of Cupertino, California, Townsend graduated from Cupertino High School in 2020, where he was a four-year varsity basketball player and scored more than 1,000 career points.
