The Oakland Patriots clinched another regional title with a resounding 49-0 win over the Stewarts Creek Red Hawks at home Friday night.

Senior Craig Tutt put his imprint on Friday night’s contest, scoring on two punt returns in the first quarter. The Patriots quickly jumped out to a 28-0 lead.

Oakland’s two-quarterback system of Kam Morton and Donte Cameron didn’t have to do so much on the night, but they were able to get the offense rolling as well.

Morton finished with 39 yards passing and a touchdown. Cameron tallied 92 total yards (67 pass, 25 rush), a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown.

“We didn’t need the offense very much, but I thought our quarterbacks played well with what little they did get to play,” Oakland coach Kevin Creasy said. “It’s great having two quarterbacks.”

It was a tough night for Stewarts Creek. After two three-and-outs in the first, the Red Hawks were already down by 14. Special teams’ miscues hurt any opportunities for Stewarts Creek to get back into the game.

“We had very poor execution on special seams.” Stewarts Creek coach Ben Caudill said. “We gave up two returns for a touchdown, had another one blocked. Our defense didn’t have a chance to stop them.”

Oakland’s special teams averaged just over 34 yards per return—with Tutt being the star of the night going for 150 return yards.

“I’m real proud of our special teams coach Marcus Bryson,” Creasy said. “He did a heck of a job scheming up punt returns, and two of them worked. … A lot of our starters on offense and defense are on special teams. That’s just a testament to how important they think it is, and it changed the whole game.”

Oakland has dominated the region again, outscoring league opponents 245-14—including five shutouts. Although the Patriots are playoff bound they still have one game on the schedule that they have circled in Riverdale.

“We’re not quite in the playoffs yet,” Creasy said. “We still have the Battle of the ’Boro with Riverdale coming up. (We’re) playing on Thursday, so it’s a short week, and we’ve got to be ready to play.”
