Hometown heroes Weezer will headline Crypto.com Arena for the first time when the pop-punk band’s Weezer: The Gathering wraps up a 32-city arena tour this fall.

The tour, which arrives as Weezer preps the release of its forthcoming16th studio album, opens in Sacramento on Sept. 8, travels across the country and back before closing out with a trio of shows in San Diego on Oct. 21, Las Vegas on Oct. 23, and Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Oct. 24.

Opening all shows on the tour are the Shins and Silversun Pickups.

To celebrate the tour announcement, the band is hosting a run of special events around Los Angeles from Thursday, March 26, through Tuesday, March 31, when tickets go on sale.

Weezer: The Gathering – Initiation Week begins on Thursday, March 26, with The Trial of Knowledge, a trivia night at Barney’s Beanery in West Hollywood. It’s followed on Friday, March 27 by the Sunset Ceremony – not sure what that is! – and The Pinball Gauntlet, a pinball tournament, on Saturday, March 28.

The Pickleball Trials take place on Monday, March 30 – this one pits band members Rivers Cuomo, Scott Shriner, Patrick Wilson and Brian Bell against fans in a pickleball tournament. “Shine Again,” a new single from the as-yet-unnamed new album, will be released on Wednesday, April 1.

To RSVP for a chance at participating in the Initiation Week events, see Weezer.com. “Gifts! Joy! Prizes! Unity!” the website promises of Initiation Week. “Not all will be called!”

A variety of presales for tickets open on Tuesday, March 31. General ticket sales open on Friday, April 3.
