BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying a man who allegedly stole alcohol from a convenience store after trying to assault the clerk.

The robbery took place just before midnight Jan. 21 at the Circle K at 220 S. Union Ave., according to officials.

The suspect selected a three-pack of Budweiser tall cans when he was confronted by the clerk, police said.

During a brief verbal altercation, the suspect allegedly tried punching the clerk in the face, although he didn’t succeed in striking them. He then fled on foot with the alcohol.

Investigators described the suspect as a bald man with a black goatee, medium build and a face tattoo. He was last seen wearing a black hooded “True Religion” sweatshirt, black Pro Club shorts, black tube socks and black low-top Vans with white shoelaces.
