Rokusho debuts ‘Sunset Hour’ above Sunset Boulevard

As spring and summer evenings settle over Los Angeles, Rokusho LA is introducing a new “Sunset Hour” happy hour, offering an early-evening rooftop moment along Sunset Boulevard.

Tucked along the iconic Strip, Rokusho pairs an intimate Japanese handroll bar downstairs with a relaxed rooftop terrace that catches the golden hour light above Sunset Boulevard. The space offers a breezy perch for post-work drinks, casual bites or an easy start to a night out in Hollywood.

Running Wednesday through Sunday from 5-7 p.m., Sunset Hour centers around Rokusho’s handroll program from executive chef Alex Suzuki, with all handrolls available at half price during the window, offering guests a chance to explore the kitchen’s lineup of fresh, made-to-order rolls in a more relaxed early-evening setting.

Rather than a traditional happy-hour menu, the offering is designed to be an approachable way to experience Rokusho’s full handroll selection, each prepared to order with premium seafood and house sauces.

Levain unveils new spring cookies

Levain Bakery, a New York City institution renowned for its iconic six-ounce cookies, debuts a new carrot cake cookie for a limited time this spring. Inspired by the classic dessert and rooted in the bakery’s 30-year tradition of rich, indulgent cookies made with high-quality ingredients, the cookie delivers a delicious, familiar profile that feels right at home in spring.

Available in all bakeries and online for nationwide shipping, the carrot cake cookie is packed with freshly grated carrots, sweet apricots, creamy white chocolate chips and crunchy pecans, delivering everything fans love about the cake in a way that feels unmistakably Levain.

The carrot cake cookie was created out of Levai’s exploration of a breakfast cookie – an experimentation with ingredients like apricots, pecans and warm spices that felt familiar yet slightly unexpected. As those flavors came together, carrot cake emerged as the natural throughline, a classic with warm spices and a seasonal appeal that feels especially at home in spring. Bringing the dessert into Levain’s signature format required much testing and tasting, from refining the spice balance to perfecting how freshly grated carrots blended into the dough while maintaining the bakery’s signature rich, indulgent texture.

“We had been experimenting with a breakfast-forward cookie for a while, and ended up with carrot cake — and this is when everything finally clicked,” Levain co-founders Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald said. “It’s a classic for a reason – the kind of flavor people genuinely love. When it came together, it felt like the perfect way to welcome spring. It’s also our first vegetable-forward cookie, and one we really enjoy.”

Also returning this spring is Levain’s lemon cookie, a fan favorite bursting with refreshing citrus flavor and sweet lemon chips. Together, carrot cake and lemon bring a fresh seasonal twist to Levain’s lineup.

Levain Bakery is located at 130 S. Beverly Drive.

Tender Greens refreshes menu for spring

Tender Greens is welcoming spring with the debut of its limited-time “Garden Toast” and seasonal menu updates featuring fresh vegetables, bright herbs and a new plant-forward dish.

The vibrant combination delivers a fresh, herb-forward take on a comforting classic, following the brand’s winter limited-time carrot hummus toast.

The spring spring menu also includes “Happier Vegan” – a colorful, plant-forward plate layered with falafel, harissa sauce, farro wheat, green garbanzo hummus finished with extra virgin olive oil, heirloom cherry tomatoes, pickled cucumbers, onions, roasted peppers, baby lettuces and sherry vinaigrette; “Spring Harvest Salad” — made with Laura Chenel goat cheese, strawberries, seasonal citrus, almonds, roasted onions, fresh herbs, baby lettuces and golden balsamic vinaigrette; “Pineapple Basil Agua Fresca” – a light and refreshing beverage balancing tropical sweetness with fresh basil; “Spring Seasonal Vegetables” – featuring carrots, mushrooms, snap peas and green beans (subject to availability).

¡Salud! brings Mexico City café to Venice Beach

¡Salud! has officially opened its doors at 417 Washington Blvd. in Venice Beach, introducing a design-forward café and cocktail bar built around the celebration of global Latin culture and a deep commitment to hospitality.

Inspired by the café culture of Roma Norte in Mexico City, where neighborhood coffee bars naturally evolve into vibrant evening gathering spaces, ¡Salud! was created to reflect the same rhythm in Venice. By day, it serves craft coffee and Latin-inspired breakfast and by night, it transforms into an intimate cocktail bar with tapas, happy hour, late-night offerings and rotating weekend DJ sets.

Created by husband-and-wife team Richard and Celia Sanchez Lara, the concept reflects both their shared cultural roots and passion for intentional hospitality. Rather than focusing on a single region, the couple set out to embrace and celebrate the diversity of global Latin traditions, taking inspiration from Mexico, Spain and beyond.

“With ¡Salud!, we wanted a space that feels like home,” Richard and Celia Sanchez Lara said.
