Police in San Francisco made an arrest in an attempted rape case from February, the department said Wednesday.
On Feb. 15 just after 4 p.m., a woman ran for help in the 2100 block of Larkin Street and police were called. When officers arrived, they learned that a man had followed the woman home and when she was attempting to close her door, he forced his way inside her residence and tried to sexually assault her. She struggled and was able to escape and run from her home.
An image of the suspect was located and shared with all SFPD officers in an effort to try and identify him. On Feb. 16, the suspect was located in the 900 block of Geary Street and arrested.
Daquane Hubbard, 34, was booked into jail on suspicion of assault with intent to commit a felony, sexual penetration with an object, burglary, robbery, attempted rape, false imprisonment, sexual battery and assault with intent to commit rape. He is being held without bail and his next court appearance is scheduled for April 8.
Although an arrest has been made, this remains an open and active investigation. Anyone with information should contact the SFPD at (415) 575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD. You may remain anonymous.
