Alyce de Roulet Williamson

OBITUARY

A fourth-generation Angeleno, Alyce was born in Los Angeles on November 11, 1930, to parents Dorothy (Fisher) and Henry de Roulet. She attended the Marlborough School and received a BA from Scripps College in Claremont, California, in 1952. In 1954, Alyce married the love of her life, Warren (Spud) Williamson, and they celebrated 64th years of marriage prior to his passing in 2018. Alyce and Spud had four children: Sandra Fallat (John) of San Anselmo, Dr. Ruth Chandler Williamson of La Canada, Henry Williamson (Robin) of Rancho Santa Fe, and Alyce Marie (Lisa) Williamson, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her beloved brother and sister-in-law, Vincent de Roulet (Linda). Alyce was incredibly proud of her seven grandchildren, Harrison Fallat; Lauren Fallat Healey (Nathan); Alyce (Lisa) McNulty; Thomas McNulty III; Warren Brooks Williamson II; Carolyn Williamson Richardson (Zack); and Ryan Williamson (Charlotte), and of course her three beautiful great-grandchildren.

To her immediate family, the images of her dressed in perfectly color-coordinated and glamorous outfits every year for Christmas Eve will always be treasured. She would also ensure her entire family blocked their calendars for her husband Spud’s summer birthday celebration at their favorite place, Saint Malo Beach in Oceanside, California. She deeply understood the importance of celebrating family, whether it was birthdays or significant accomplishments.

Alyce will forever be known to family and friends as a bundle of endless energy. Even at 94 she would attend as many as three events in a single day, serving as a living example to her children and grandchildren of what it truly means to live life to the fullest and always stating, “It’s all about love” along the way. The family will deeply miss accompanying their joyful matriarch to all of the events at the Music Center, Hollywood Bowl, Disney Hall, and performance venues across Los Angeles County where Alyce had become a fixture. While she could often be seen enjoying the aforementioned events, the family also warmly remembers her busting a move at a Ludacris concert and enjoying Hugh Jackman’s abilities at Opening Night at The Hollywood Bowl, just last year.

Alyce enjoyed working with others toward a common cause. She was an exceptional community leader and a philanthropist that passionately supported the arts throughout Los Angeles County. She served on the boards of The Music Center, LA Philharmonic, LA Opera, ArtCenter College of Design, Pasadena Symphony and Pops, The Huntington Library, and Scripps College, among many others. Her philanthropic commitments also extended to organizations such as Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, The Pasadena Boys and Girls Club, and the National Advisory Council for the School of American Ballet. She once said, “One might think I’m spreading myself too thin, but it’s too late to change now!” She told the Pasadena Weekly in 2015, “Giving of yourself is what really makes the difference.”

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alyce’s memory to ArtCenter College of Design, LA Opera, LA Philharmonic, or The Huntington Library.
