Go Metro Forecast
After last week’s historic heat, this weekend feels like a welcome change of pace. Temperatures are still running above normal, but nothing close to what Southern California endured over the past several days. Friday brings highs in the low 80s for most valley areas under partly sunny skies, while coastal communities will stay even more comfortable, thanks to a lingering marine layer that keeps things closer to seasonal norms.
The warm-up arrives this weekend. Saturday and Sunday both look hotter, with highs climbing into the upper 80s and some areas potentially flirting with record highs — especially inland valleys and the Antelope Valley, where temperatures have been running near or above record levels. The marine layer will thin out this weekend, meaning even spots a few miles from the coast will feel the added warmth.
The stretch of above-normal heat ends early next week. A low-pressure system moving in from the north will increase cloud cover and bring a likely chance of rain by Tuesday. It won’t be a drought-busting storm, but it marks a meaningful shift in the weather pattern after weeks of persistent heat.
