SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents conducted a tense operation in Natomas, involving a traffic stop and a visit to a residential area, which has raised concerns among local residents.
Witness Sabrina McPherron captured the scene on video, describing how agents rushed a vehicle as children were on their way to school.
“The way they just jumped out of their car and rushed the vehicle that they pulled over seemed odd,” McPherron said. She stopped to record the incident after noticing unidentified and masked agents, some with ICE written on their uniforms.
McPherron observed the officers interacting aggressively with the driver of a gray SUV, noting, “They were very, very aggressive and there were kids around.”
A family member of the driver confirmed that a one-year-old was inside the vehicle at the time of the interaction.
McPherron recounted hearing the agents yell at the driver, “You’re a dangerous person. I’m going to tase you, I’m going to spray you, everybody in your car is going to get sprayed.”
The driver eventually drove off, but the situation continued at a nearby home.
McPherron said she saw more agents at a neighbor’s house upon returning home.
A man who preferred not be identified, described the agents’ arrival, saying, “The ICE agents just pulled their cars up, and they just came, and I asked them, you know, if they got any warrants for him. They showed me a piece of warrant, but I wasn’t sure if it was real or just had his name on it.”
The man said agents were looking for his stepfather but denied them entry, asking if they had a warrant to enter the house.
He described the interaction as intense and scary, especially since children were present.
“During the interaction, they were pretty aggressive and it was pretty scary because I came to see what was happening because I did get a phone call and I knew that they had kids with them too, so I’m gonna come out here and see what’s happening, see if I can get the kids out of the car,” he said.
The resident noted that agents remained in the area afterward, keeping a close watch on him. “They left like a couple of hours after that, but then they did have one ICE agent follow me from the house to Wal-Mart and back to the house,” he said.
The resident said agents indicated the operation might be connected to a missed court check-in involving his stepfather.
For neighbors who witnessed the events, the operation raised questions about its execution in a residential area.
McPherron questioned an agent about his covered face, to which he responded, “What’s it to you?” She replied, “It’s because you have a gun and you’re outside my house. You’re in my neighborhood. Your face isn’t supposed to be covered,” and was told to mind her own business and go inside.
Sacramento police could not confirm awareness of any ICE activity in the area, and ICE has not yet responded to requests for comment.
