MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) — The Merced County Sheriff’s Office is showing off the renovations made to the John Latorraca Correctional Center.
The jail is located off Highway 59 and Sandy Mush Road. This is the second phase of work.
The expansion project began in 2023.
The facility includes 256 beds and eight classrooms to provide inmates with skills they can use when they get out.
This second phase of the project replaces the 55-year-old main jail in Downtown Merced.
