Boys basketball
Player of the Year: Dax Hall, Santa Fe Christian
Hall led San Diego County in scoring, averaging 27.0 points per game. He also the led county in assists, averaging 7.3 per game. Hall scored at least 17 points in every game, had 16 20-point games and nine 30-point games and put up a career-high 42 points in a game against Cathedral Catholic. Hall’s brother, Jake, was the San Diego Section Player of the Year in 2023 while at Carlsbad. The Halls are only the second set of brothers in CIF San Diego Section history to be named POY, joining Troy Leaf (2010) and T.J. Leaf (2015 and ’16) of Foothills Christian.

Girls basketball
Player of the Year: Jordan Brown, Francis Parker
The freshman made a huge impact on the San Diego Section Open Division champions, averaging 20.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.7 steals per game on a team that finished 23-8, losing in the Southern California Regional semifinals. She scored 22 points against Cathedral Catholic in her high school debut and had a career-high 33 against Victory Christian.

The senior defender was a key to a Nighthawks team that went 20-3 and beat St. Augustine 1-0 to win the San Diego Section Open Division champion. Del Norte lost 1-0 to Santa Ana Mater Dei in the Southern California Regionals, but still finished ranked No. 3 in California and No. 15 in the naton by MaxPreps.com

Playing behind a rock-solid defense, the senior allowed just 20 goals in 23 matches. He had nine shutouts.

A UC Santa Barbara commit, the junior center back scored five goals and had four assists in leading the Nighthawks to a 16-4-4 record and the San Diego Section Division 2 championship.

A senior, Corcoran allowed just 16 goals while making 85 saves. She had seven shutouts.

A repeat player of the year, Shin scored 90-plus goals and had 40-plus assists in leading Bishop’s to its eighth straight San Diego Section championship. The Knights have won 15 championships in the last 16 seasons.
Goalie of the Year: Edie Nolan, Bishop’s
A junior, Nolan allowed just 13 goals in three playoff games as the Knights won the championship. Bishop’s, which lost in the Southern California Regionals, finished ranked No. 5 in California and No. 5 in the nation by MaxPreps.

The junior won his second state championship, this time beating Isai Fernandez of Bellflower St. John Bosco 8-1 to capture the 175-pound title. Carini was the 165-pound champion last season and was third in the state at 144 pounds as a freshman.
