Police tape blocks entrance to a convenience store in San Luis Obispo County.

A man is in Yolo County custody Friday after a domestic violence call turned into a standoff with West Sacramento police.

The early morning incident began sometime before 6:20 a.m. at a home in the 100 block of Alameda Boulevard. A woman at the home had been assaulted by man with whom she had a domestic relationship, but now had a restraining order to stay away from her, said West Sacramento police officials.

The man refused to come out of the home as officers tried to coax him to surrender. Officers made their way into the residence as the man barricaded himself in a bedroom. West Sacramento officers then called in a police dog and used less-lethal weapons to take the man into custody.

The man was taken away for medical evaluation before being booked into Yolo County Jail in Woodland on suspicion of domestic violence-related charges and violating a restraining order, said West Sacramento Police Department officials.
