A rapidly growing Southwest-based coffee chain has chosen Clovis as one of the first California cities for its expansion.
Arkansas-based 7 Brew Coffee, which gained popularity in Southwest states such as Texas and Arizona, plans to open a drive-through coffee stand with outdoor seating at the intersection of Clovis’s two busiest commercial corridors, according to a document submitted to the Clovis Planning Commission.
Located at Clovis Avenue and Shaw Avenue, the coffee chain plans to construct a 910-square-foot drive-through coffee shop with two parallel queuing lanes in the paved parking lot of a fully developed shopping center.
The dual-lane design is capable of accommodating up to 13 queued vehicles between the menu board and the drive-up window, according to a planning commission report.
“Customers entering the drive-through will be greeted by staff who take orders directly from vehicles within the queuing lanes. At the pick-up window, additional staff will deliver beverages to customers, allowing both lanes to operate efficiently and minimizing delays,” the report says.
The site neighbors a McDonald’s and a Mexican fast-food chain El Pollo Loco. The shopping center also features PetSmart, Marshalls, Planet Fitness, and other tenants. The closest coffee shop is the Starbucks inside the Target on the other side of Clovis Avenue.
The new 7 Brew Coffee proposes to operate from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, and it anticipates serving approximately 500 customers every day, according to the report.
The chain launched its first location in Rogers, Arkansas, in 2017 and rapidly expanded to more than 500 locations in 38 states.
The chain hasn’t opened any locations in California. The nearest 7 Brew Coffee shops are in Arizona and Utah.
Last month, it submitted a design review application to the City of Roseville, located north of Sacramento and home to approximately 148,000 residents, the Sacramento Bee reported.
