Calling all manga lovers! A Japanese-inspired Manga Lounge is opening in Monterey Park, just outside of Los Angeles.

“There’s no place like us in the States,” Manga Lounge owner Tomoya tells Secret Los Angeles. “When you come here, you can read manga as much as you want in a cozy environment.

The lounge is home to more than 7,000 manga books, with fan favorites like One Piece, Yu Yu Hakusho, and hundreds more titles across action, adventure, romance, thriller, webtoon, and more.

“I hope this place is going to be a space for communication” between friends, family, and strangers, says Tomoya. “We need offline spaces to hang out.”

Manga Lounge has its grand opening on Saturday, March 28, 2026. It costs $8 per hour to hang out, but first-time customers will recieve 50% off. It will also have a small beverage and snack section.
