From the Grammys to the Super Bowl, all eyes were on singer, rapper and record producer Bad Bunny.

First the Puerto Rican superstar dominated at the Grammy Awards by scooping up three trophies, including an Album of the Year win for DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, which became the first Spanish-language album to triumph in the category. “I want to dedicate this award to all of the people that had to leave their homeland, their country, to follow their dreams,” he said.

Other Grammy winners and presenters echoed Bad Bunny’s political message. Upon winning Best New Artist, Olivia Dean reminded the audience she is the granddaughter of an immigrant: “I’m a product of bravery, and I think those people deserve to be celebrated,” the British singer-songwriter said. Additional support came sartorially. From the red carpet to the stage, stars like Billie Eilish, Hailey and Justin Bieber, Joni Mitchell, Margo Price and Kehlani donned “ICE Out” pins.

When Super Bowl LX took place just a week later, Bad Bunny showed what it means to be an American with a vibrant halftime show featuring Puerto Rican cultural vignettes, a real wedding, Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin appearances, and cameos from Cardi B, Jessica Alba, Karol G and Pedro Pascal — as well as L.A.’s own Villa’s Tacos. The Highland Park staple, owned by first-generation Mexican-American chef Victor Villa, resultantly saw a huge line beginning at 7 a.m. the next morning, hours before opening.
