An elderly Sacramento man was arrested as a suspect in a child abuse case dating back to September 2025, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff.
Larry Candies, 75, was initially reported in September for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old family member. An investigation was launched by Child Protective Services, Modesto child abuse detectives, and Stockton police, where it was found that Candies had been allegedly abusing this relative since they were 11 years old.
Further investigation found that Candies had allegedly abused other family members of his back in the 1980s when they were between the ages of eight and thirteen. Candies was arrested on March 25 for eight counts of Lewd and Lascivious Acts with a Child Under Fourteen.

Candies is currently being held at the Sacramento County Jail on a $1,000,000 bail.
This is an ongoing investigation. The sheriff’s office believes there are additional victims who have not yet reported their abuse.
