Commission faults cops who shot Weezer bassist’s ex-wife
Eagle Rock—Police officers who shot and wounded the ex-wife of Weezer’s bassist last year acted out of policy, according to a ruling by the Los Angeles Police Commission. Commissioners said the two officers who opened fire at Jillian Lauren in Eagle Rock on April 8, 2025, violated the LAPD’s policies on using lethal force, and on drawing and exhibiting their weapons. Latest plans and costs to replace Griffith Park pool
Los Feliz—The budget is now $40 million to replace the old Griffith Park pool on Riverside Drive with a smaller pool and splash pad, and to renovate the pool house. This is up from the previously reported estimate of $28 million. The old male and female changing rooms will merge into one indoor gender-neutral area with private changing quarters and toilet stalls. Though the pool house will look about the same on the outside, an elevator and second set of stairs will be added. If all goes as planned, the project could be completed by around July 2029. L.A. Billy Idol tease explained
Silver Lake—That two-sided billboard on Rowena Avenue reading “Billy Idol should be dead” and “Billy Idol isn’t dead” is, yes, an ad — specifically for new documentary that started streaming on Hulu. And for the record, Idol is alive, 70, and still booking major shows, including a Las Vegas residency later this year.
