FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — One person was killed Friday afternoon after a vehicle reported to be driving recklessly crashed along Interstate 5 in Fresno County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP said they received a call at about 2:11 p.m. on March 27, 2026, reporting a reckless driving vehicle traveling southbound on Interstate 5.
A check of the vehicle’s license plate showed it was associated with a previously reported stolen vehicle out of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Officers responded and attempted to locate the vehicle, but before they were able to catch up, the suspect lost control and the vehicle overturned on the shoulder of southbound Interstate 5, south of Derrick Avenue.
The driver exited the vehicle following the crash and was immediately taken into custody. The driver sustained moderate to major injuries.
CHP said the rear passenger was ejected during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the CHP.
