A pair of young men were arrested in the wake of a late-night fatal shooting in SoMa, the San Francisco Police Department announced (opens in new tab) on Saturday afternoon.
Authorities named the two suspects connected to the Friday shooting: Edwin Depaz Maldonado, 19, of Richmond, and Andry Segura Giron, 20, of San Rafael.
Maldonado was booked for murder, while Giron was held for assault likely to produce great bodily injury.
Police responded to the scene of the reported shooting at the intersection of 3rd and Harrison Streets, where they found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital and later was pronounced dead.
On Twitter, the SFPD said (opens in new tab) that the suspects were “swiftly apprehended.”
The SFPD also said officers found two additional victims at the scene who were assaulted but not shot.
No other information was released about the victim.
According to SFPD data (opens in new tab), there have been 10 homicides through March 22, or a jump of 150% from four during the same period a year ago.
