A confrontation between two men, who shared a former girlfriend, escalated into violence Saturday in Fresno.

The incident happened just after 9 p.m. near Alluvial Avenue, east of Blackstone Avenue, where the two men became involved in a road rage dispute in a parking lot.

Police said one of the men exited his vehicle armed with a baseball bat and charged toward the other driver. The driver, who remained inside his car, told officers he feared for his safety and struck the armed man with his vehicle.

It is unclear how seriously the injured man was hurt. Police have not released the identities of those involved.

The incident remains under investigation, and officials have not yet said whether any charges will be filed.
