A 6-year-old boy was killed by a hit-and-run driver Saturday night in the Chollas View neighborhood, and officials said that the driver of the car remained at large as of Sunday morning.
The crash took place at 6:50 p.m. Saturday in the 5400 block of University Avenue, where the boy was crossing the street mid-block and was hit by a car traveling westbound on University Avenue, according to Officer Jose Parales of the San Diego Police Department.
The boy was taken by ambulance to a hospital and later died.
Witnesses described the vehicle as either a silver or champagne- colored Honda sedan.Â
The car was last seen heading northbound on 54th Street, according to Parales.
The SDPD’s Traffic Division is handling the investigation.
