About 50 riders were involved in an illegal e-moto and pocket bike gathering in Long Beach that resulted in one arrest, five citations and six vehicles being seized, police announced.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers became aware of a group of approximately 50 people riding illegal electric motorcycles, pocket bikes and e-bikes recklessly throughout the city around 4:22 p.m. on March 27, 2026.
Police said a coordinated enforcement plan was developed to maintain public safety, utilizing resources from multiple divisions. Officers then conducted what was described as a proactive enforcement related to reckless driving and vehicle code violations connected to the group activity.
Authorities said a 17-year-old male was arrested for reckless driving-related booking charges. Five additional individuals were cited for vehicle code violations.

Officers also towed five illegal electric motorcycles, commonly referred to as e-motos, along with one illegal pocket bike, according to the department.
“After learning about this large group, officers from multiple divisions worked together to impact the significant public safety risk these illegal e-bikes and pocket bikes can pose,” Long Beach Police Chief Wally Hebeish said in a statement.
Officials emphasized that illegal street takeover-related activity remains a priority enforcement issue, warning that participants may face citations, arrests or vehicle seizures.
The department encouraged community members to report illegal street takeover incidents and suspicious activity. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 in an emergency or contact Long Beach police dispatch at 562-435-6711 for non-emergency situations.
