A man has been arrested for violating his restraining order and driving into a house in Northwest Fresno on Sunday morning, police say.

When officers arrived at the home near Corona and San Jose avenues, the suspect got into his vehicle and drove into the house.

Officers were able to get the people inside the house out safely.

As officers tried to negotiate with the suspect, he took out a knife and made comments suggesting he wanted officers to kill him.

Negotiations lasted two hours and eventually, officers were able to arrest the suspect.

As they were taking him into custody, the suspect attempted to stab himself, giving himself minor wounds.

The suspect was taken to Community Regional Medical Center. Once released, he will be booked for multiple felony and domestic violence-related charges.
