Man barricaded in Antelope home is taken into custody

WE BEGIN WITH BREAKING NEWS. AND THAT BREAKING NEWS IS OUT OF ANTELOPE RIGHT NOW. SACRAMENTO COUNTY DEPUTIES ARE IN A STANDOFF WITH A BARRICADED MAN THEY BELIEVE MAY BE ARMED. KCRA 3’S MARICELA DE LA CRUZ IS LIVE FOR US AT ANTLER RUN PLACE IN MARICELA. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED OUT THERE SO FAR? YEAH, MELANIE, WE’RE STILL STANDING ABOUT A BLOCK AWAY FROM THAT HOME. IT IS RIGHT AT THAT CORNER. YOU CAN SEE SOME LIGHTS RIGHT THERE BY THAT FENCE. AND WHAT WE KNOW AT THIS TIME IS THAT THE SACRAMENTO SHERIFF’S OFFICE, A SPOKESPERSON TELLS US THAT A MAN WAS THREATENING HIS WIFE, FAMILY AND THEIR DOG EARLIER, JUST A FEW HOURS AGO. AT THIS TIME, WE KNOW THAT THE FAMILY WAS ACTUALLY ABLE TO MAKE IT OUT OF THE HOME, BUT THAT MAN STAYED INSIDE THE HOUSE AND WE’RE TOLD HE HAS ACCESS TO A GUN, WHICH IS VERY CONCERNING TO SACRAMENTO SHERIFF’S OFFICE, BECAUSE THIS IS A RESIDENTIAL AREA. I MEAN, YOU CAN TAKE A LOOK AT THE STREET, YOU CAN SEE JUST THE RESPONSE FROM DEPUTIES OUT HERE. WE KNOW THAT THEY’VE SENT OUT A DRONE. THERE’S BEEN A CHOPPER FLYING OVER THE AREA. AND THIS IS AGAIN A BIG CONCERN FOR THEM, JUST BECAUSE OF HOW CLOSE THE HOMES ARE TO EACH OTHER. WE’RE TOLD THAT SOME PEOPLE DECIDED TO SHELTER IN PLACE, AND PEOPLE DECIDED TO LEAVE THE AREA BECAUSE OF THIS MAN WHO MAY HAVE ACCESS TO THIS WEAPON. NOW, WE ASKED ABOUT ANY OTHER INCIDENTS THAT MAY HAVE HAPPENED OUT IN THIS AREA. WE’RE TOLD THAT THE SACRAMENTO SHERIFF’S OFFICE, THEY DON’T REALLY RESPOND TO THIS AREA. IT’S USUALLY A CALM NEIGHBORHOOD. BUT AGAIN, THEY ARE RESPONDING TO THIS WITH SO MANY RESOURCES BECAUSE AGAIN, THEY BELIEVE THAT THIS MAN MAY HAVE ACCESS TO A WEAPON. SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies took a man into custody who they earlier said they believed was armed and barricaded in a home.

Deputies went to the home on Antler Run Place in the Antelope area of Sacramento County around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday after receiving reports of the man threatening to kill his wife, family, and dog, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies said that all family members and the dog, were out safely and the man was alone in the home.

A few homes nearby were evacuated, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office said early Sunday that the man was custody.
