Duke Van Le, 32, allegedly threatened to shoot family members and barricaded himself in a house along Daylight Court, per the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — The man detained after a short standoff Saturday afternoon in South Sacramento has been arrested, deputies said.
Duke Van Le, 32, allegedly threatened to shoot family members and barricaded himself in a house around 4:30 p.m. along the 8300 block of Daylight Court, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
Le, who deputies identified as a convicted felon, was reportedly inside the home with his parents and 6-year-old niece. He had two handguns, per law enforcement.
Authorities said they established a perimeter and were able to evacuate the three family members.
Deputies and units from assisting agencies, the Elk Grove Police Department and California Highway Patrol, began their standoff response, then Le exited the home and surrendered peacefully before public announcements were issued, the sheriff’s office said.
Two loaded handguns and three bottles of illegal narcotics were allegedly found after a search warrant was executed at the home; one of the guns was unregistered, and the other was reported stolen out of Stockton, according to law enforcement.
Le faces an unlawful gun possession felony charge, and his bail is set at $500,000, Sacramento County Main Jail records show. He is expected to appear Tuesday afternoon in Sacramento County Superior Court.
During law enforcement’s response, deputies said nearby homes were evacuated while others chose to shelter in place.
