OAKLAND — A man suspected of shooting at his neighbor in the Lower Dimond district Monday morning surrendered to police after a standoff of more than an hour, authorities said.
The neighbor was not injured nor was the suspect, authorities said.
According to initial reports, the shooting happened about 7:13 a.m. Monday in the 3400 block of Boston Street. Officials did not specify what may have prompted the shooting.
The suspect apparently went back inside his residence afterward. Numerous police officers responded to the scene, including some using an armored vehicle, and began negotiating with the suspect.
He came out of his residence and surrendered about 8:43 a.m., authorities said. His name was not immediately released.
Streets in the area were shut down during the police activity.
