A pedestrian suffered fatal injuries over the weekend when a pickup truck struck him at night on a dark stretch of road near Lindo Lake in eastern San Diego County, authorities reported Monday.
The unidentified man crossed into the path of the eastbound 2015 Ram 1500 on Woodside Avenue near Prospect Avenue in Lakeside at about 8 p.m. Saturday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The resulting impact left the pedestrian dead at the scene. The motorist was uninjured.
DUI was not a factor in the fatality, CHP public affairs Officer Jasmine Lopez said.
CHP would like to remind the public to be alert near roadways and always use sidewalks and crosswalks.
