Southern California soccer fans who take the train to the 2026 FIFA World Cup matches in Los Angeles this June and July will score big: 20% off Pacific Surfliner fares.

Amtrak Pacific Surfliner and the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board announced a partnership Monday designed to help SoCal residents experience LA during this year’s World Cup, and some time before and after the big event.

The partnership includes a 20% off discount on fares aboard Pacific Surfliner to and from Los Angeles, which can be booked through the Pacific Surfliner website.

The deal is valid for travel between May 1 and July 15; travelers can use their email to request the discount code online.

Pacific Surfliner’s route and service

Managed by the Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) Rail Corridor Agency, Pacific Surfliner spans a 351-mile coastal rail route from San Diego through Orange, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

Along the way, the train serves 29 stations, including stops in Irvine, Santa Ana, Anaheim, Fullerton, Los Angeles, Glendale, downtown Burbank and Van Nuys.

Earlier this year, Pacific Surfliner expanded its service by adding a daily roundtrip between San Diego and Los Angeles.

Currently, Pacific Surfliner offers 13 daily roundtrips between San Diego and LA, five daily roundtrips between San Diego and Goleta, and two full-corridor trips between San Diego and San Luis Obispo.

2026 FIFA World Cup matches in Los Angeles

Los Angeles will host eight World Cup matches at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood this June and July, including the U.S. Men’s National Team’s (USMNT) opening match and Group Stage matches.

June 12: USA vs. Paraguay (USMNT’s opening match)
June 15: Iran vs. New Zealand
June 18: Switzerland vs. TBD (European playoff winner)
June 21: Belgium vs. Iran
June 25: USA vs. TBD (European playoff winner)
June 28: Round of 32 (Match 73)
July 2: Round of 32 (Match 84)
July 10: Quarter-Final (Match 98)

LA Tourism’s Fan Zone events

LA Tourism will host special events and regional activations during the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Los Angeles, including Fan Zone events at Union Station from June 25-June 28.

Travelers can use Pacific Surfliner to get to close to some of those events, too, while also exploring SoCal’s beaches and cultural attractions.

In a press release, LOSSAN and LA Tourism officials said they hope Pacific Surfliner’s service makes is easier for soccer fans to “experience Los Angeles without the stress of traffic or parking.”

Train riders who arrive in downtown LA can connect to the Metro World Cup shuttle and other local transit options.
