Marin County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man accused of setting bushes on fire near a Marin City business.

The incident happened at about 11:20 a.m. Saturday on Donahue Street. An employee of a nearby business extinguished the fire, the sheriff’s office reported.

A witness identified a potential suspect crossing a street. Deputies detained him and found a lighter in his possession, sheriff’s Lt. Brennan Collins said. Investigators linked the man to the fire after reviewing a video.

“The suspect displayed signs of mental health issues,” Collins said.

Jonas Ford, 55, was booked into the county jail on suspicion of arson. He remained in custody Monday in lieu of $25,000 bail.
