LOS ANGELES – A 52-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle before sunrise Friday in East Hollywood with the suspect fleeing.
Los Angeles Police Department officers were called to the 700 block of North Vermont Avenue, near Seventh Street, at 3:45 a.m. Friday where they learned the suspect was driving north on Vermont Avenue when they struck the pedestrian, according to LAPD Officer Kevin Terzes.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.
He was later identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner as Tommie Simpson III.
The driver continued driving north and collided with another vehicle before driving away from the scene.
There was no suspect or vehicle description.
The LAPD’s West Traffic Bureau will be in charge of investigating the collision, Terzes said.
