The USS Boxer left San Diego March 18th for deployment to the Middle East, but it made a stop in Hawaii.

The ship pulled into Pearl Harbor Sunday with about 25-hundred members of Camp Pendleton’s 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit on board.

Officials say the larger journey is still to the Middle East. The next leg of the Boxer’s expedition could be Guam before going deep into the Indo-Pacific.

The Trump administration ordered the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group to join other U.S. ships and troops to the Middle East, where it could possibly help carry out a ground war against Iran.
