ABC 10 San Diego reports that a decades-old cold case has reached a breakthrough, with a suspect arrested in the 1994 killing of Clive Bland in Pacific Beach.Detectives with the San Diego Police Department’s Cold Case Unit said 50-year-old Jeffry Brandenburg was arrested Thursday in Santa Cruz and booked on suspicion of murder in Bland’s death.According to police, Bland, 40, was stabbed Jan. 2, 1994, and found slumped over on the porch of a home in the 700 block of Tourmaline Street just before 5 a.m. Investigators said evidence showed the stabbing occurred on the beach near Tourmaline Surf Park.Police said Bland appeared to have gotten into his car and may have been trying to get help, but had no connection to the home where he was found.At the time of his death, Bland was a janitor who lived with his father in the Clairemont area.San Diego police said multiple cold case investigators reexamined the evidence over the years.
