Flames spread to two apartment buildings in Berkeley early Tuesday morning, leaving 10 families displaced, according to the city’s fire department.
The two-alarm fire, which was reported at 2:51 a.m., impacted two separate two-story apartment buildings along the 2300 block of Ninth Street, according to the fire department.
Responding firefighters found residents evacuating from both buildings when they showed up, the fire department said. Fire crews had the blaze under control at 3:36 a.m.
One resident was assessed for a possible medical complaint but was not taken to the hospital, according to the fire department.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
