Gauthier, 22, did not make the road trip to San Jose. Anaheim also starts a five-game homestand beginning on Friday.

The 6-foot-2 winger was injured in the first period of the Ducks’ 5-4 overtime loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday after taking a crosscheck from Maple Leafs defenceman Jake McCabe.

The play occurred as Gauthier scored halfway through the first period to give Anaheim an early 2-0 lead but left the game immediately afterwards.

Gauthier’s goal was his 38th of the season, which ties him for eighth in the NHL. He also leads the Ducks with 65 points.

Anaheim is fighting to stay ahead of the Edmonton Oilers and Vegas Golden Knights to take top spot in the Pacific Division. They currently lead the division with a 41-28-5 record and are four points ahead of the Oilers and five points ahead of the Golden Knights.

They are looking to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2017-18 campaign.

The Ducks have eight games remaining in the regular season three games against teams that are currently in the playoff picture.
