BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Two people were arrested in Lamont after officials allegedly found them with stolen copper wire on Saturday, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies at the Lamont Substation saw Rodrigo Garcia, 20, and Juan Cachu, 43 — both from Lamont — in the 7700 block of Buena Vista Boulevard, according to sheriff’s officials.
Garcia was allegedly riding a stolen motorcycle and pulling a suitcase containing about 100 pounds of copper wire, investigators said. He tried to flee on foot but was arrested shortly after.
A search warrant was obtained for a nearby home where one of the suspects was seen loading copper wire, KCSO said.

During the search, deputies and detectives found 200 more pounds of commercial grade copper wire, according to investigators.
Garcia and Cachu were both arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen copper wire, conspiracy and other related charges, according to KCSO.
Garcia was also arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest charges, officials said. Both were booked into the Kern County Jail.
