The Poway City Council unanimously approved the appointment of Phil Rath and Dan Krall as the new Budget Review Committee members on March 17.
Rath and Krall, who are filling vacancies for two expiring terms, will serve two years with terms ending on Dec. 31, 2027, according to a staff report.
The application period began Jan. 12 and closed Feb. 12. Rath and Krall were the only applicants.
The Budget Review Committee consists of five members appointed by the mayor with the concurrence of the City Council. The other three committee members who are serving staggered two-year terms through Dec. 31, 2026 are Steven Bauman, Alec Huettinger and Chris Olps.
The committee meets each spring to review and provide guidance on the proposed budget, according to the city’s website. The committee’s additional role is to improve the transparency and readability of the budget document before it is reviewed by the City Council for approval, the website states.
Meetings are scheduled at 5 p.m. on Wednesdays. Upcoming meetings are April 22, April 29, May 6 and May 20. The meetings are held in the Poway City Council Chambers.
