(FOX40.COM) — A man is in custody Wednesday morning after barricading himself inside a South Sacramento home overnight, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
SCSO said deputies responded to reports of a possible domestic violence incident around 10:45 p.m. at the 8100 Block of Lemon Cove Court.
The victim reported that her boyfriend, who is also the father of her child, pointed a gun at her and physically assaulted her, SCSO said. She informed deputies that there were guns in the home and the suspect has a history of gun-related arrests.
The woman was able to leave the residence. Deputies arrived and set up a perimeter before calling those in the home to exit.
According to SCSO, the suspect and two of his relatives refused to exit the home, resulting in an over six-hour standoff.
Sheriff’s Office Negotiators, a SWAT team, armored vehicles and drones were used in an attempt to draw all three people outside the home.
Around 4:30 a.m., all three people exited the home and the suspect was taken into custody, SCSO said.
Deputies confirm that the two other people in the home were not being held hostage and no one was injured.
Multiple roads were closed but have since reopened.
