FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — The race for Governor of California kicks into overdrive Wednesday with two candidate forums taking place in Fresno.
The Western Growers Association and 30 farm groups are hosting the first forum at Fresno State.
The candidates participating are Republicans Steve Hilton and Chad Bianco and four Democrats: Xavier Becerra, Katie Porter, Matt Mahan and Antonio Villaraigosa.
The moderators for the debate are former North Valley Assemblymember Kristin Olsen-Cate and Fresno County Supervisor Buddy Mendes.
The forum will focus on “Affordability and Rural California.”
Mendes is also a farmer in Riverdale, and he wants the candidates to get specific on ag issues.
The second gubernatorial forum will take place Wednesday night at Fresno City College.
The debate will focus on issues ranging from job creation, immigration and agriculture.
