RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A fugitive sex offender has been arrested in California.
Preston Jakes was arrested on March 13 in Long Beach in a partnership between the U.S. Marshals and Nevada State Police.
Jakes was convicted of attempted sexual assault in July of 2013 after engaging in illicit sexual contact with a minor. He was given 96 to 240 months in prison and was paroled in April 2021 before absconding from supervision in April 2022.
Jakes was extradited from California back to Nevada on Tuesday and is now in custody at the Clark County Jail.
