Fresno police arrested a 26-year-old man Tuesday after he allegedly violated a restraining order, threatened his significant other, and struck an officer, authorities said.

Officers responded to a confidential location where the victim reported receiving threatening texts and saw the suspect damage property at the residence. Police told GV Wire that the victim was “afraid for their life.”

Law enforcement confirmed there was an active restraining order against the man.

Authorities located the suspect nearby at a store and took him into custody for multiple outstanding warrants, including assault with a deadly weapon and a DUI warrant. During transport, he reportedly struck an officer with his right shoulder.

The man, identified as Juan Contreras, faces charges including contempt for violating a protective order, DUI, threats to terrorize, vandalism, obstruction/resisting an officer, and a post-release community supervision violation.
