Tending to a titan of a tail-wagger would like take all of our time, money, attention, love, and effort.

Which makes the prospect of encountering an enormous Corgi, a colossal canine that stands as tall as a full-on tower of Corgis, delightfully daunting.

After all, how many treats per day would this sizable snarfler demand?

Cue the “phew”: The giant Corgi inflatable headed to the “Tiki Beach Pawty” romping at Huntington Beach on the first Saturday of April is just that: A doggone cute decoration and not a real and massive Corgi of great stature.

Of course, the hundreds of pooches that attend Spring Corgi Beach Day each year do have stature, and spirit, and plenty of spunk, too, as do their people. The bash has become one of the biggest dog-themed festivities on the West Coast, with both Corgis and “honorary” Corgis in attendance, as well as humans eager to connect with a canine-cool community.

The schedule, as always, is uplifting, offbeat, bacon-flavored, and full of pep: A Corgonut Pie-Eating Contest should be a messy, messy showdown, while quirky contests, from Best Trick to Best Corgi Butt, will bring out the Corgis’ competitive can-do.

Corgi Limbo is always a popular draw, too, as is the opportunity for pups to display their creative costumes in a snazzy showdown.

As for the inflatable making its debut at the April 4 Corg-vention?

It’s “(b)asically giraffe-level tall,” is the word from the party planners, or “70 tennis balls stacked on top of each other” if you prefer.

The organizers behind Spring Corgi Beach Day bill the eye-catching attraction as “the BIGGEST corgi inflatable in the WORLD,” so be sure to get your lil’ guys to pose in front of it before the sunny day is done.

Well, paws-crossed for a sunny day: We’re now in Graypril, when June Gloom mornings can dominate.

But every day is a sunny day with a squat sweetheart at your side, whatever the weather, as the hundreds (and hundreds) of Corgi-adoring people in attendance definitely know.
