SAN DIEGO — The San Diego County Bicycle Coalition, in partnership with the City of San Diego, Caltrans, City Heights Community Development Corporation (CDC) and Mid-City CAN, hosted CicloSDias City Heights 2025 on Sunday.

For one day, two miles of University Avenue were transformed into a car-free, open street celebration where people walked, rolled, biked and explored the community at their own pace.

Designed to encourage “active transportation,” CicloSDias is inspired by Ciclovía events around the world and gathered around 3,000 participants for the event.

“Obviously, the road is typically used for cars, but this gives you the opportunity to re-imagine that perhaps it could look a little different. Right? We might not necessarily need to be using cars all the time,” Jesse Ramirez, the Director of Urban Planning at City Heights CDC, said.

CicloSDias City Heights 2025 is funded by the California Department of Transportation’s Active Transportation Program (ATP). The event was free and open to everyone.
