A wind advisory will be in effect until 11 a.m. Thursday for areas east of Interstate 15 due to persistent Santa Ana winds, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters say the winds will gust 35 mph to 45 mph, with isolated gusts up to 55 mph. The gusts will be especially strong along Interstate 8 east of Alpine.
“Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles,” the weather service said in an advisory. “Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.”
There will not be an elevated threat of wildfires during this event, forecasters said.
