The crash happened around 5:09 p.m. on northbound Highway 99 at Le Grand Road, California Highway Patrol officers announced.
Officers said the woman was driving a Cadillac SUV when she drifted onto the right shoulder and up a dirt embankment before colliding with the concrete base of the Le Grand Road overcrossing.
The vehicle sustained major damage before resting in an “unsafe location,” officers said. First responders couldn’t immediately free the woman, who was unresponsive.
She died at the scene.
Drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to be a factor, officers said.
