Wood 14, Sacramento 0
The Wood High baseball team defeated Sacramento 12-0 on Tuesday at home.
Josiah Tiernan, Aiden Simmons and Takeo Zagata each led the Wildcats with two hits and two RBI, while Keegan Pierce had a triple. Noah Graham also had an RBI triple.
Pierce threw a five-inning complete game, allowing just one hit while striking out 13 batters.
It was Wood’s first win in the Monticello Empire League this season as the Wildcats improved to 4-13 overall.
River City 12, Vacaville 8
The Vacaville High baseball team saw a late comeback fall just short of a win on Tuesday with the Bulldogs losing at home to River City 12-8.
The Bulldogs trailed 12-3 in the bottom of the sixth, but stayed alive by rallying for three runs in the bottom of that frame and two more in the seventh before losing.
Vacaville was led by Rome Griego, who had three hits, while Eric Haven had two hits of his own. Luke Giaramita had a hit and two RBI, while Caden Whitten and Evan Askew had RBI doubles.
Vacaville’s next game is Thursday at River City.
Rodriguez 12, Vanden 0
The Vanden High baseball team struggled on Tuesday, falling 12-0 to Rodriguez in five innings.
Kekoa Grinton collected the lone hit for the Vikings, who were stiffled by Rodriguez starting pitcher Nick Schikore. Schikore struck out 13 batters in five innings and walked one.
Vanden’s next game is Thursday at Rodriguez.
